PlayStation 3 | Blade Kitten First Impressions PDF Print E-mail
Written by Munk
Monday, 08 March 2010 16:00

Accompanied by an alien sidekick and a floating sword, we plow our way through rogue mechs or anything else that gets in our way. For those of you who haven't heard of Blade Kitten before, you should know that this sassy pink-haired anthropomorphic cat is the star of a webcomic that began back in 2002. Steve Stamatiadis, creative director and cofounder of Krome Studios, had been meaning to give the agile Kit Ballard a game of her own but got wrapped up in other projects over the years. But now, Kit and her cuddly companion Skiffy have finally made it to the PlayStation Network where you can tag along on one of Kit's crazy adventures as a bounty hunter on an artificial planetoid called Hollow Wish.

Xbox 360 | Power Gig: Rise of the SixString Impressions PDF Print E-mail

The next rhythm game to challenge the Guitar Hero and Rock Band thrones uses a guitar that works as a video game controller and a real instrument. No matter how you look at it, it's obvious that the rhythm genre has witnessed better days. Last year, we saw both Guitar Hero and Rock Band slow down in terms of sales, with Activision going so far as to significantly cut the number of Guitar Hero games on its 2010 release schedule. But those cloudy skies haven't scared off an upstart developer by the name of Seven45 Studios. The recently established Boston shop is currently working on a new entry in the rhythm genre called Power Gig: Rise of the SixString, a game due out for release later this year that uses a very unique guitar peripheral.

Akasa Nero S CPU Cooler Review PDF Print E-mail

http://t2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:1h1KpxRi-MlxEM:http://www.modreactor.com/images/stories/reviews/akasa_nero_ak_967/011.JPGHeat is a tweakers worst enemy, if you can get just the right OC on both your ram and your CPU and you have the ratios just perfect, your next OC killer is going to be your CPU temps. Stock cooling is getting better, but when it comes to the longevity of your OC you need to step up the cooling to some aftermarket options. There are tons of tower coolers out there, are they really all that different? Well we have seen a lot of coolers come through our office here at OCC and if there is one thing I can say for a fact: there is a huge difference from one cooler to the next. Just because your core contact looks like a Thermalright True doesn’t mean you are going to get the temps identical to the True. Even some smaller coolers have surprised us. The Buffalo from Evercool blew us away with its performance; even though the people at Evercool seem to think Buffaloes are bulls (according to the graphics on the cooler) they do however know a thing or two about how to build a good cooler. Today we will be checking out the Nero S from Akasa this is yet another tower cooler, but will its “S” design really give it the competitive edge it needs to compete with others in its class?. Let’s find out:

Xbox 360 | Resonance of Fate Updated Impressions PDF Print E-mail

Tri-Ace turns to steampunk and heavy artillery in its upcoming role-playing game. Tri-Ace's upcoming Japanese role-playing game, Resonance of Fate, called End of Eternity in Japan, deviates from the traditional RPG formula by replacing long swords and magic spells with a copious number of bullets and customizable machine guns. We had an opportunity to meet with director Takayuki Suguro from Tri-Ace to go over the story and battle mechanics in greater detail. The last time we saw the game was in Japanese at the 2009 Tokyo Game Show, but this time our demo consisted of trying to wrap our heads around the battle mechanics and all the customization features.

PlayStation 3 | Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light First Look PDF Print E-mail
Written by Munk

Prepare to be surprised by the latest game starring everyone's favorite tomb raider. As far as sweeping proclamations go, the claim that Lara Croft practically invented the modern action-platformer is pretty low on the controversy scale. It's hard to argue against the idea that recent hits like Uncharted and Assassin's Creed owe a large debt of gratitude to Ms. Croft's Tomb Raider series for helping to usher in today's era of jumping, climbing, and shimmying across three dimensions. So when you hear about the next game bearing her likeness, it's entirely understandable that you may let out a guffaw or two. But here it is: Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, due for release as a digital download this summer, is an arcade-inspired action romp with a fixed isometric camera and a focus on high scores and replay value. Though the genre is something out of left field, this latest Lara Croft adventure looks to maintain much of the feeling of earlier games (tombs, booby-trap puzzles, and so on) with a framework designed around cooperative adventuring.

Xbox 360 | Naughty Bear Updated Impressions PDF Print E-mail
Written by Munk

It's ursine revenge in a cute and cuddly package. We check out an updated build of A2M's Naughty Bear. One part Care Bears, one part Grand Theft Auto. A dash of Teddy Ruxpin, a dollop of Jason Vorhees. That's the amusing--and sometimes troubling--mix that makes up the upcoming Naughty Bear for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. There's a dark undercurrent of violent revenge to the game's adorable exterior, and depending on your sense of humor, it makes Naughty Bear nothing if not a conversation starter. A few weeks back, we got an updated look at the game and got to see the titular bear's mile-long mean streak.

To be perfectly honest I 5think my life was a lot more productive before smartphones came along. Here is the thing: when, in the past, did you ever have to charges your phone every single day?  And sometimes even twice! The inclusion of all this modern fancy fandangle technology in one product has been the bane of battery manufacturer’s existence. Well thankfully some companies took it upon themselves to give us a handy temporary fix until the battery info structure can catch back up with our modern technological devices.  Griffin has release one such products the Griffin TuneJuice Universal Charger has everything you need for on the fly quick charging when you just can’t make it to an outlet. Let’s get a look at it:
