We fulfill our lifelong dream of being the Terminator and happily make a fool of ourselves in the process. While the original Yoostar was a somewhat niche PC-only title, developer Blitz is aiming for a wider audience with Kinect and Move support for the sequel Yoostar 2. While the idea of a karaoke movie game may seem a little strange, in practice it’s incredibly amusing, if sometimes embarrassing.

PC | Deus Ex: Human Revolution Updated Impressions PDF Print E-mail

We got to see three different approaches to a police station infiltration: action, espionage, and a charm offensive. Deus EX: Human Revolution has been gathering momentum recently, following a trailer from Final Fantasy CGI specialists Visual Works and an impressive E3 demo. At Gamescom this year, the developer was on hand to show a brand-new demo that took place about 90 minutes into the game, as the main character Jensen had to infiltrate a police station. He had the choice of going in guns blazing, using a stealth approach, or charming his way in. We saw all these methods when Eidos Montreal demonstrated one section of the game being approached in three different ways.

We take a peek at an early level from this action RPG based on the society of knights. If you’ve read our previous coverage on The First Templar, then you might already know that it’s a third-person action role-playing game that focuses on the Knights Templar, or more specifically, one Templar and his quest to retrieve the Holy Grail. But during that quest, the game’s storyline will begin to raise moral questions: Are men better off immortal or mortal? Did the Holy Grail come from the devil to trick men?

We dropped by Square Enix's Gamescom booth to check out the company's first-ever Western RPG. Square Enix may be renowned for role-playing game series such as Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts, but after its acquisition of Western publisher Eidos, it has found itself publishing a slew of titles in a different vein. One of them is Dungeon Siege III, developed by US developer Obsidian, which will be Square's first Western-developed game in the role-playing genre. We dropped by to meet Obsidian to see how it has been getting on since its last showing at E3.

PC | Lionheart: Kings' Crusade Updated Impressions PDF Print E-mail

We dive a little deeper into this strategy game based on the Third Crusade. We’ve already seen extensive portions of the Richard the Lionheart campaign in the strategy game that’s based on historical events that occurred during the Third Crusade and Europe’s battle against the forces of Saladin. However, we did take the time to look at one mission in that campaign in which Crusaders are looking to take the city of Acre, which happens in three stages. First you have to take and hold the port. Then you have to take and hold siege points. And finally you can storm the walls of the city. Just to give an idea of how detail-oriented this game is, you have to be aware that invading a port inherently means your units can only arrive in waves, so the troops you decide to bring in the first wave (whether they’re foot soldiers, archers, or cavalry) need to hold the line until reinforcements can arrive.

We get all nostalgic with a look at Wizarbox Games' point-and-click adventure. While the humble point-and-click adventure generally no longer enjoys the same level of success it did back in the early '90s, in Germany, the genre is thriving. Here at Gamescom, the booths are filled with adventure game delights. One such example is Gray Matter, a dark thriller developed by Wizarbox Games.

Xbox 360 | Castlevania: Lords of Shadow Hands-On PDF Print E-mail

We go Titan-climbing with Gabriel Belmont in Castlevania's first 3D outing on current-generation consoles. When Hideo Kojima unveiled Lords of Shadow last year, he described shifting Castlevania development away from Japan as a means to make the series "more appealing [to an international audience] in the years to come." Development duties, he revealed, had been given to Madrid-based MercurySteam, making Lords of Shadow doubly notable; this is also Castlevania's first foray into 3D for the current console generation. How the prolific franchise has been "reborn" for Western markets won't be fully clear until the October launch, but playing through the first two chapters offers strong hints.

SilenX Extreme Effizio Silent CPU Cooler Review PDF Print E-mail

At first I was a bit skeptical looking at this cooler; it seemed as though it was very basic and, really, the only interesting feature was the 5 cooling pipes. I didn’t think it was going to be as quiet as it was, if you’re like me and really don’t get decibel ratings, just blow softly out of your mouth and that’s about what you’ll hear from this cooler. When taking a closer look we saw this was no basic cooler, this thing beat out all other coolers in its price range not to mention how quiet it was. Overall this is a great cooler no matter what you’re doing; whether it be overclocking, gaming, video editing, or just a PC enthusiast. So let’s get right in and do some testing.
