The GPU makers today are pumping out some incredible card. The new GPU’s come with a price and that price is ambient temperature some of these new cards are pushing the 80 degree mark and that not only frightens those worried about their new graphics card but also affects the overall temperature of the rest of your case as well. There are a lot of choices when it comes to properly cooling your GPU’s simple additions of module heatsinks help a little but for a major enthusiast nothing can fall short of performance top notch cooling. Water cooling is definitely a great option but some people just don’t like the idea of water near their pricey systems so some of us prefer the air cooled option. SilenX has provided us with a fantastic step forward in GPU cooling and design with its latest Cooling product the IXG-80HA2 GPU Heatsink. Let’s get a closer look and see how well it stands up:

Testing:

For testing I will be using an ASUS EAH 4830 With modded fan and heat sink in comparison to the SilenX- 80mm GTX2xx/48xxHD GPU Heatsink. I will be testing both the load and idle temps of each and see how far I can push the hardware by doing a load and idle Overclocked test.

Stock clocks for the EAH 4830 is 500 MHz on the GPU and 700 MHz on the ram I was only able to get the Modded OCed to about 700 on the gpu and 1075 on the memory so I didn't bother posting the temps. I was able to overclock the GPU up to 700 and I got an amazing OC on the memory of 1185 (15MHz under max) so here are the results:

 Even though the both stayed rock solid under load, the fact that the SilenX GPU Cooler was able to drop 10 Degrees at load over the Modded version is extremely impressive. Considering my original temps with the 4830 with stock fan were in the 70’s the SilenX GPU Cooler gave me a 31 degree drop in temps which is more than just a little impressive.

Conclusion:

Overall I have never seen another gpu cooler perform like the SilenX IXG-80HA2 GPU Cooler. It is by far the most impressive GPU cooler I have ever seen to date. The addition of LED’s on the fans makes for a beautiful touch to an already impressive piece of hard ware.


Would I recommend this product? Yes, although $90 may seem steep to you just remember I got a 30% OC on the GPU and 35% OC on the memory not to mention the insane decrease in temps. This cooler will keep your card running for years at peak efficiency.
